This is the rolling chassis of our Factory Five Racing 818S.  We’re fans of all kinds of cars at FormaCars and while each of us has our specific preferences, a mid-engine 2 seat sports car speaks to all of us.  That made building an 818S an obvious choice.

So, we ordered a kit – loaded with options, picked up a WRX donor and got to work.

The FormaCars way is do it exquisitely or not at all, so of course we powder coated all the sheet metal. And the suspension. And, well, almost everything.  And we were not content to just use black.  Sheet metal got Silver Artery, a distinctive, dimpled finish and the suspension and anything custom got neon green/yellow (we can’t decide which it is, what do you think?).

If you’re familiar with the Subaru EJ series of engines, you’ve already noticed that this is not a regular Subaru flat four.  That’s a bigger turbo and an air to water intercooler and a JDM intake manifold.  Because our parent company, Concept Engineering, has a full CNC shop, the build is full of custom billet pieces (like those turbo and intercooler mounts).

More on our 818S as it comes together.
